Nadia Elena Comaneci
It was during the Montreal Olympic Games 1976 that she scored one of the greatest moments in sports history - - the very first perfect 10 for the asymmetrical bar. In addition, Comaneci had six other perfect 10s and made her fourteen years old, the youngest Olympic medalist in all categories. Nadia Comaneci has not only attracted attention from all angles but has also assisted Romania get a foothold on the map of international recognition. Through achieving a feat which was impossible to achieve the sport's icon helped bring gymnastics into the spotlight of the world's interest. The sport also altered the perception about female athletes. The effect of her performances during the Olympics is so significant that her toe move (release) and her step toe are named after her in the uneven bars event. Apart from the Olympics, her performance was outstanding at the both World Championships (World Championships) and European Championships.
